lyrics

Part 1: New World Blues

Hey I'm gonna sing you them blues (x4)
And I was gonna eat a watermelon
Then a-someone singin' them blues

Hey I'm gonna sing you them blues (x4)
And I was gonna pluck a feathered chicken
Then a-someone singin' them blues

Hey I'm gonna sing you them blues (x4)
And I was gonna be a cotton picker
Then a-someone singin' them blues

Hey I'm gonna sing you them blues (x4)
And I was gonna be another nigger
Then a-someone singin' them blues

Part 2: Jet Black Night

"Hold me tight," she said, "tonight
my fears are growing strong.
Hang these arms around your neck
and sing me a soothing song.

Woe, oh! And together we will go.

Bring me light, a tasted sight,
the story's getting old
cover me in glorified
abundance of the soul

Woe, oh! The kind that we will never know.
Woe, oh! And forever we will grow."

I can't deny I praised her time,
a secret to commend.
She cast her eyes in places I
just never could defend.

"Woe, oh! I endeavor to be known.
Woe, oh! And together we will roam."

And she closed her eyes on a jet black night
and became the Moon to reflect the light
of the Sun.

"Paint me bright, a sacred rite,
a field of bloody bone
wherever I have fortified
my heart with heavy stone

Woe, oh! And together we will go.
Woe, oh! And forever we will glow."

And she closed her eyes on a jet black night
and became the Moon to reflect the light
of the Sun.

Should have seen her eyes, she was so surprised
when the pale Moon light and the Sun
united as one.

"Hold me tight," I say, "tonight
my tears are welling so..."

Part 3: Lucy-Rose Love

Keep thee well my love and sail
safely away and home again.
And if you wed the ocean instead,
I will love the land alone.

So lay your head upon my chest
one last time before you go,
and hear expressed in every breath
that I will drown my sorrow

in the ocean that I weep,
for 'tis you I long to keep
near me, by my side,
with your light to be my guide,
and if I let you go
and you don't come back to me,
I will be so happy you are free.

Lift me dead on gossamer thread,
down from the tower of our hermetic song.
Written, read, the thoughts I bled,
crowned in the power of love for so long.

And it's you I shall defend
as we fall into the wind.
And here I make my stand
where the ocean meets the land.
On you I shall depend
for you'll always be my friend,
and I love you even more than yesterday.

I was walking down the road,
I was lonely, I was cold,
and the demons say
the wolves are closing in.
Holy keeper of all time,
let your heart beat close to mine.
Won't you share with me
a lion's golden strength?

Come right in, this is no sin.
Lay your bags down, rest a while,
and press your lips upon my lips
that I may taste your journeyed smile.

Interlude: Joseph Campbell

Part 4: A Lizard's Tale

Ratchets and rascals of red sin belie
over and under my sign.
That's when you catch the old fat cat and put her outside,
saying that something won't die,
but that's a lie.

Will the lizard go home with his tail?
Will the little mouse run?
Will the sparrow ever
fly again towards the Sun?

That's when a little boy weeps
'cause he's keeping inside
all these thoughts of what could go wrong,
and he wishes he knew how to write a song.

Soldiers of elephants' celebrants march,
stomping around in the streets.
Woe, oh! They'll never keep us from this grand parade
but they'd keep us tied to our feet.
Isn't that sweet?

When the letters go home in the mail
will the visionaries sing?
Will they share their thoughts on how to talk
on what the future brings?

That's when a little girl sleeps
'cause she can't justify
all these thoughts that go on in her mind.
So she goes to bed
to whatever dreams she finds.

Now they're running as fast as they possibly can.
Girl now woman and boy has turned into a man.
Where could they go?
Nobody ever could know.
Got to be somewhere or someone or something!
Could it be true that we turn into nothing?

Pack, herds and blackbirds surround on all sides,
keeping a bloody close eye.
That's when you'd think that they'd stand up and put up a fight.
Why did they have to be shy?
Did they ever ask why?

Will the lizard go home with his tail?
Will the little mouse run?

Interlude: Terence McKenna

Part 5: Becoming

Like a wolf with the wings of an eagle
I descend from the heavenly skies
with a flame on my head like a candle,
I will burn away all your desires.

I don't give a damn about your world,
I only come to save you from the greatest form of misery there is.
I couldn't care less about you,
I only want to do by best to give myself to everything that's left.

I was born in a storm of decision
in the cold of the alien grave.
If I could, I'd suggest a revision,
to your thoughts and your flesh you're a slave.

I don't give a damn about your wealth,
I only come to save you from the greatest form of ignorance there is.
I couldn't care less about you,
I only thought I'd do myself a favour while I'm waiting for your death.

Sun Dragon flies out over the ocean
through a place where time and space appear to be an art.
Sun Dragon glides with grace and devotion
to the love he carries in his heart.

Oh, see him fly!
Whoah! How he flies so high,
parting the clear blue sky
with wings of gold.
Hear him call,
seizing the rise and fall.
Here in our darkest hour
to light us to the grave.

I could kill all your dreams in an instant,
in the blink of the saintliest eye.
You don't seem even slightly resistant
to the evil enslaving your life.

You don't give a damn about yourself,
so what would make you think that I should care, oh, even just one little bit.
You never even thought about my heart,
believing I was coming back to save you, I will tear your world apart.

Part 0: Hymn of Redemption

Sing your praise unto the Sun,
Hallelu, Hallelujah!
Sing your praise the day is done,
Hallelju, Hallelujah!
